SOL’s Rally to $83 Diverges From Leverage: Funding Compresses 11%→3% as Altcap Hits 18-Month Low

SOL hit $83 Friday as perp funding collapsed from 11% to 3% in 48 hours, even as tokenization flow and memecoin volume drove isolated on-chain demand.

SOL’s Rally to $83 Diverges From Leverage: Funding Compresses 11%→3% as Altcap Hits 18-Month Low

SOL traded at $83 on Friday, its highest print in over 30 days, but the derivatives tape isn’t confirming the move. Annualized funding on SOL perpetuals fell to 3% Friday from an 11% peak just two days earlier, per Laevitas data — a compression that dropped funding well below the 6%-12% band that typically signals neutral positioning.

That’s leveraged longs unwinding into strength, not adding to it. The signal is sharpened by context: total altcoin market capitalization slid to its lowest level since December 2023 over the same window, according to TradingView data. SOL is climbing in isolation, not as part of a broader altcoin bid.

Tokenization flow is doing the heavy lifting

Cumulative tokenized stock transfers on Solana broke $10 billion on June 23, the same point where SOL’s current leg higher began. The launch of SpaceX shares trading on Backpack has been flagged as the specific trigger for the subsequent pickup in DeFi activity.

Tokenized assets on Solana excluding stablecoins printed a record $3.5 billion on Wednesday, up from $2.7 billion a month earlier, per RWA.xyz. Corporate credit tokens and tokenized index products tracking the S&P 500 and Nasdaq-100 account for most of that growth. On tokenization-specific active addresses, Solana now leads with 294,274 against Ethereum’s 204,955, per the same dataset.

Memecoin distribution and PUMP strength

Black Bull (ANSEM) launched via airdrop on Pump.fun Sunday, reached a $60 million market cap by Tuesday, and marked an all-time-high of $112 million on Friday. The anonymous deployer routed roughly 65% of supply to crypto influencer Ansem’s public wallet — a concentration flagged by observers even as distribution spread to approximately 74,000 addresses within three days.

Pump.fun’s native token PUMP gained 27% on the week, pushing its market cap back to roughly $630 million and back inside the top 100 by market cap.

Prediction markets add a new flow vector

World’s integration into the Phantom wallet pulled in nearly $890,000 in TVL within two days, positioning it as a competitor to Polymarket amid World Cup betting volume. Jupiter shipped a competing prediction-markets feature in beta on June 29, adding a second Solana-native entrant to the same vertical.

Taken together, the funding collapse suggests leveraged desks aren’t willing to size into a push toward $90 on memecoin- and narrative-driven flow alone. Absent on-chain activity growth beyond tokenization and speculative rotation, there’s limited structural basis visible for SOL to keep extending its gap against the rest of the altcoin market.
