Litecoin Breaks Trendline, But $35 Downside Stays Live Below $46-$50 Wall

Litecoin (LTC) changed hands around $45.30-$45.50 on July 18, up modestly on the day, after price broke above a descending trendline that had capped the daily chart for several months. The move puts the $46-$50 resistance band back on traders’ screens, but a set of technical readings still classified as neutral means the breakout is not yet confirmed as a trend reversal.

Trendline break meets a $40-$45 demand zone

Analyst @LLuciano_BTC flagged the daily-chart trendline break on X, noting LTC rebounded from a dip toward roughly $39 and is now consolidating inside a $40-$45 demand zone that has held on repeated tests. The chart also shows a developing symmetrical triangle, a structure traders typically watch for signals of either continuation or reversal once price presses against the upper boundary.

Separately, trader @Umairorkz pointed to LTC holding above a $41.75-$42.55 support zone even as price has repeatedly tested resistance near $45.90, alongside a forming inverse head-and-shoulders pattern. Multiple failed attempts at a resistance level can erode selling pressure over time, but confirmation typically needs a decisive close on rising volume rather than an intraday spike.

Downside risk stays on the table near $35

Both analysts caution that the setup is conditional. @Umairorkz wrote that “failure to reclaim the range high could trigger a breakdown of support toward targets near $35,” underscoring that the bullish case depends on a clean hold above the $41.75-$42.55 floor rather than the recent bounce alone.

TradingView’s aggregated technical summary still rates LTC’s oscillators — RSI-14, Stochastic %K, CCI-20, ADX-14, MACD, Williams %R, Momentum (10), Bull/Bear Power and the Ultimate Oscillator — as Neutral, indicating price is neither overbought nor oversold after the recent volatility. Moving averages tell a slightly more constructive story: shorter-term SMA and EMA readings are generating more buy than sell signals across several timeframes, even as longer-term averages continue to reflect the broader downtrend that has dominated LTC over the past year.

What a breakout or breakdown would mean for levels

Community charting on TradingView identifies $39-$42 as a major demand zone and $44-$46 as the immediate decision area. A sustained close above $46-$50 on stronger volume would open a path toward $50-$60, while a rejection risks pulling focus back to $39-$42 and, on a deeper breakdown, toward the $35 level flagged by @Umairorkz.

LTC remains far below its all-time high near $413. Circulating supply stands at approximately 77.4 million LTC against a hard cap of 84 million, putting the network’s market capitalization at roughly $3.5 billion — a scale that keeps Litecoin’s technical setup relevant to positioning even as the broader macro trend for the asset stays corrective.
