ETH: TVL-to-cap ratio flips for first time as funding compresses to 3%, DApp revenue halves

Ethereum's $260B TVL now exceeds its $210B market cap while weekly DApp revenue, active addresses and perp funding all roll over.

ETH: TVL-to-cap ratio flips for first time as funding compresses to 3%, DApp revenue halves

Ether traded at $1,799.10 on Saturday, up 3% from Thursday’s close and outpacing the broader market, yet unable to clear $1,800. The move sits on top of a structural anomaly: Ethereum’s Total Value Locked hit $260 billion against a $210 billion market capitalization — the first time TVL has exceeded market cap in the network’s history.

TVL/market-cap divergence flagged as a valuation signal

Leon Waidmann, head of research at Lisk, pointed to the ratio as evidence ETH is trading cheap relative to the capital locked on top of the network, calling the gap wider than the one seen during the 2022 drawdown. The distortion coincides with the go-live of Robinhood Chain, an EVM-compatible layer-2 using ETH as its native gas asset, which has already pulled in $106 million in bridge deposits.

Robinhood’s tokenized-stock product runs on that chain across 120 countries, adding incremental demand for ETH as collateral and settlement rail. Ethereum now holds a 47% share of the real-world-asset tokenization market per Rwa.xyz, with notable non-stablecoin issuance including Tether Gold (XAUT), Ondo’s USDY, and Franklin Templeton’s tokenized government bond product (iBENJI), alongside tokenized equities such as Strategy’s STRCx via xStocks and Circle Group’s CRCLon via Ondo.

Usage data contracts underneath the tokenization headline

Network-level activity tells a different story. Weekly DApp revenue on Ethereum has fallen to $11 million, roughly half the $20 million recorded in Q1 2026, according to DefiLlama. Sky leads contributors at $3.1 million, ahead of Titan Builder ($2.4 million) and Chainlink ($1.1 million).

Active addresses dropped to 3.2 million from 5.4 million over the same period, a roughly 40% decline consistent with the broader 2026 bear market and competitive pressure from chains offering synthetic perpetuals and automated yield vaults. Derivatives markets show the same softness: annualized perp funding on ETH sits at 3% as of Saturday, below the 6% neutral threshold and down sharply from a 12% peak logged just a day earlier, per Laevitas data — leveraged longs are not chasing the bid.

Treasury flow keeps offsetting the on-chain drag

Arkham Intelligence flagged a 20,500 ETH ($36 million) withdrawal from Galaxy Digital to a new wallet on Thursday, a transfer pattern consistent with prior accumulation by Tom Lee’s BitMine Immersion (BMNR). BitMine has added 198,370 ETH over the trailing 30 days and now holds $10.3 billion in reserves.

The setup leaves ETH pulled in two directions: a record TVL-to-cap flip, sustained corporate accumulation and a new L2 launch argue against an outright breakdown, while compressed funding, a near-halving in weekly DApp revenue since Q1, and a 40% drop in active addresses keep $1,700 in play as a retest level. Whether ETH clears $1,800 likely hinges on treasury demand continuing to outrun stalled organic usage.
