BTC/ETH ETF Flows Flip Positive, But Providers Disagree on Whether the Streak Actually Broke

Two data providers, two different pictures of the same ETF complex. SoSoValue reported $90.44 million of net inflows into U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs on July 10, alongside $18.43 million into spot Ethereum ETFs — a combined $108.9 million day that it flagged as ending a 16-day outflow streak. Farside Investors data, cited by Cointelegraph, tells a different story: a $84.9 million net outflow for Bitcoin ETFs on the prior session, following a 10-day, $2.7 billion redemption streak that began June 17 and had already reversed with more than $500 million of inflows over three trading days before that print. Desks should treat the streak-length and sign discrepancy as a reminder to check provider methodology before trading the headline.

Spot prices, meanwhile, are going nowhere. BTC sits near $64,000 and ETH near $1,800 across both data sets — a flat tape against conflicting flow signals. Total net assets stand at roughly $63.46 billion for Bitcoin ETFs and $19.66 billion for Ethereum ETFs, per SoSoValue. Whichever version of the flow data desks trust, the absence of price movement argues against reading either the inflow or the outflow as a standalone catalyst.

Spot demand still lags derivatives

Swissblock, in commentary reported by Cointelegraph, called the prior sell-off the “most overwhelming” ETF distribution wave of the current bear market and said “the storm has passed” as Bitcoin’s risk gauge eases from capitulation levels — while cautioning that “institutional conviction is not returning with full force.” CryptoQuant contributor IT Tech’s research, cited in the same report, shows 30-day cumulative BTC demand recovering from roughly -500,000 BTC a week earlier to about -75,000 BTC. The composition matters: futures demand swung from -295,000 BTC to slightly positive, while spot demand remained negative throughout — a divergence the analysis flagged as inconsistent with historically durable rallies, which typically require spot and derivatives demand to turn up together.

Policy and settlement data points stack up alongside flows

Away from the flow tape, Ethereum co-founder Joseph Lubin publicly endorsed the CLARITY Act, comparing its scope to early internet legislation and framing it as a “paradigm shift” for the decentralized-protocol economy — a comment that lands as market participants have flagged regulatory clarity as a precondition for larger institutional allocations, a thesis the same-day ETF flow figures were used to support.

On infrastructure, Hyundai Motor completed a $20,000 USDT treasury transfer from its U.S. to its Mexico entity on Avalanche, compressing settlement from several hours via banking rails to roughly seven minutes, with a follow-on European pilot planned this month alongside Circle and Visa. Separately, Sui reported hitting 6 million transactions per second in mainnet stress testing — about 92 times Visa’s peak capacity — while running at under 0.1% of that throughput with $1.5 billion in TVL. The more consequential variable for pricing the network, per that reporting, is whether custodians or asset managers begin piloting its Sui Spheres confidential-settlement layer, given token unlocks running through 2030 that require demand to keep outrunning dilution.

Netted out: providers disagree on the exact flow print and streak length, but both data sets show ETF demand stabilizing without spot prices confirming it, and derivatives-led demand recovery outpacing spot — a setup that argues for watching confirmation over the next sessions rather than trading either single-day figure in isolation.
