BTC ETF Tape Flips Positive: IBIT Leads Single-Day Print as Wallet Overhang Narrative Cools

US spot Bitcoin ETFs logged a net inflow day, per Farside Markets data, with BlackRock’s IBIT again the largest single contributor to category-wide creations. For desks tracking the ETF tape as a proxy for regulated-allocator demand, the print resets the conversation after a stretch dominated by supply-side anxiety around government wallet activity and legacy token distributions.

Why This Print Cuts Through the Noise

Creation and redemption data from spot ETF products is one of the few daily flow metrics that isolates actual capital commitment rather than exchange-inflow alerts or wallet-tagging heuristics. Unlike on-chain flags, which can misread custodial reshuffles or internal transfers, ETF flows represent real buy or sell decisions from regulated allocators settling through authorized participants.

That distinction matters given the backdrop: recent sessions had been shaped by concern over a German government wallet unwind, treated by market participants as a latent source of overhead sell pressure. A net-positive ETF day, with IBIT out in front, gives traders a concrete demand-side data point to weigh directly against that supply narrative.

Single Session, Not Yet a Trend

IBIT’s outsized share of daily category flow means its direction is frequently read as a stand-in for broader institutional sentiment toward BTC — it remains the most liquid, most heavily tracked spot vehicle in the group. A fresh inflow there, following weeks of wallet-driven volatility, is being interpreted by desks as evidence allocators haven’t pulled back materially.

But a single BlackRock-led session carries meaningfully less analytical weight than multi-issuer inflows sustained across consecutive days. ETF flows can and do reverse session to session, so extrapolating one print into a durable accumulation thesis would be premature without confirmation from the rest of the category.

What Would Confirm the Signal

The next data checkpoint is breadth: whether inflows extend past IBIT into other issuers’ spot products, and whether the pace holds as the government-wallet overhang narrative continues to fade from positioning discussions. Consistent, category-wide inflows over several sessions would carry far more signal value than one BlackRock-driven print.

Until that broader confirmation shows up in Farside’s daily breakdowns, the appropriate read for flow desks and on-chain researchers is that this is a fresh, source-backed data point — not a settled shift back toward accumulation.
